1. APPLYING ONLINE

A. After submitting my application, can I make changes to it?

No, you are unable to make changes to your application unless there are missing documents, for this reason please check and double check your application prior to submitting. If you do have missing documents, an e-mail from the admissions office will be sent to you and your application portal will be re-opened to enable you to upload the requested documents.

B. I forgot my username and password. How can I reset it?

To reset your username and password you need to click “forgot password”.

C. How much do I have to pay for application process?

Our online applications for Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs are free of any charges.

2. SUBMITTING DOCUMENTS

A. What documents are needed for an undergraduate application?
  • Completed application form,
  • Higher/Secondary Certificate or equivalents (e.g. O/A’Level, WAEC/NECO),
  • Evidence of English Language competence: TOEFL (65 IBT) or IELTS (5.5). Students without these documents will take the CIU English proficiency exam on campus following arrival,
  • Scanned copy of international passport/birth certificate,
  • Fully completed and signed CIU Rules and Regulations document (which can be downloaded during the online application).
B. What documents are needed for a postgraduate application?

Master's programs

  • Completed application form,
  • Bachelor’s Degree Diploma,
  • Bachelor’s Degree transcripts for each completed academic term/year,
  • Evidence of English Language competence: TOEFL (65 IBT) or IELTS (5.5). Students without these documents will take the CIU English proficiency exam on campus following arrival,
  • Scanned copy of international passport/birth certificate,
  • CV,
  • Fully completed and signed CIU Rules and Regulations document (which can be downloaded during the online application).

 

PhD programs

  • Completed application form,
  • A valid Bachelor’s Degree and transcripts for each completed academic term/year,
  • A valid Master’s Degree and transcripts for each completed academic term/year,
  • Evidence of English Language competence: TOEFL (65 IBT) or IELTS (5.5). Students without these documents will take the CIU English proficiency exam on campus following arrival,
  • Scanned copy of international passport/birth certificate,
  • CV,
  • PhD research proposal,
  • Fully completed and signed CIU Rules and Regulations document (which can be downloaded during the online application).
C. After uploading my documents, is there a need to send them via email?

There is no need to e-mail your submitted documents unless requested by the admissions office.

D. What type of documents should I upload?

JPEG and PDF files are the generally accepted formats to successfully upload your documents.

E. I am having difficulties uploading my documents. What can I do?

For further assistance, please e-mail the related Regional Office Manager or visit our live chat on our website.

3. MAKING THE INITIAL PAYMENT

A. I would like to pay the initial deposit. How can this be done?

You can do this in two ways. You can either make a bank transfer directly from your bank to the CIU account or you can make an online payment using your credit or debit card by using the link provided on your conditional acceptance letter. Please visit our payments page

B. How do I get an invoice for my initial payment?

You can request an official invoice by sending an e-mail to the related Regional Office Manager.

4. APPLICATION STATUS

A. What is the status of my application?

To find out the status of your application, please login to your application portal using your username and password.

B. How long does it take for my application to be evaluated?

If no further documents are required, the evaluation process for an undergraduate application takes 3 to 5 business days. The evaluation period for postgraduate applications might take longer depending on the number of applicants.

C. How will I know when a decision has been made?

The admissions office contacts all applicants via e-mail as to whether the application has been accepted or declined. You can e-mail the related Regional Office Manager for any inquiries.

D. Will I receive a hard copy of my acceptance letter?

No, the admissions office only issues letters electronically. You can print a hard copy from your email for visa purposes.

5. ACCEPTANCE LETTER

A. I have paid my initial deposit. What is next?

Submit a copy of your telegraphic transfer (TT copy) or receipt to the e-mail provided and the admissions office will send you an acceptance letter.

B. I have my acceptance letter, what next?

You can begin the process of obtaining your visa from the Turkish embassy in your country. Please visit our Immigration Procedures page

C. I need help with obtaining my visa and student permit. Who do I speak to?

The Turkish embassy in your country are best suited to advise you on the specific requirements needed for the transit visa to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Once you arrive, representatives from CIU will guide you through the process of obtaining your student permit.

D. Do I need a student permit?

Yes, all international students are required to have a student permit in order to legally reside in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

E. Does the university provide shuttle services from the airport to the school?

Yes, once you finalize your travel arrangements, send a copy of your air ticket to the related Regional Office Manager and transportation from the airport to the campus will be arranged.

6. ACCOMMODATION

A. How do I reserve accommodation?

Your preferred choice of accommodation can be selected while making your application through the application portal. Kindly note that accommodation can only be fully reserved after the initial deposit has been made. Accommodation at CIU is provided on a first-come first-served basis. We encourage all applicants to make the initial deposit as early as possible to fully confirm their accommodation.

B. I have reserved my accommodation but would like to change it.Is it possible?

After you have made your reservation, you are unable to cancel your accommodation for the academic year, but can only upgrade it to another room type, subject to availability.

C. Do I need to pay accommodation fees separately?

No, the annual academic fee stated on your conditional acceptance letter and acceptance letter includes the total amount of accommodation and tuition fees (for applicants who select “accommodation and tuition only package” and for those who select the “all-inclusive package” that includes accommodation, tuition and a meal plan).

D. How long is the accommodation reservation?

Once you fully reserve your accommodation at the acceptance stage, you have that allocated accommodation for one academic year (2 semesters).

E. How long is the meal plan reservation?

Once you fully reserve your meal plan at the acceptance stage, you have it for one academic year (2 semesters). After you have made your reservation, you are unable to cancel your meal plan.

F. Do I pay bills while living on campus?

You are only required to pay for your electricity and central heating bills, which are billed monthly. Internet services are free for registered students.

7. TRANSPORTATION AND RECREATIONAL FACILITIES

A. Do I need to pay for a transport ticket or a bus pass?

No, every registered student has access to free bus transportation provided by CIU. For further information please visit transportation page.

B. Do I need to pay for sports and recreational facilities?

Recreational facilities, social events, societies, and clubs are free for all registered students. An annual/semester fee is required to enroll for the fitness center that includes the gym and swimming facilities at CIU ARENA Sports Center.

8. INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION

A. Are CIU programs internationally recognized?

All CIU programs are accredited by YÖDAK (The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Higher Education Planning Accreditation and Coordination Council) and YÖK (The Turkish Republic Higher Education Council). International accreditation from independent scientific accreditation bodies means a lot to our university, and having been through this process means we offer an unsurpassed education exclusive to our students.
