A cooperation agreement between CIU and Disabled Sports Federation

A cooperation agreement has been signed between CIU and the TRNC Disabled Sports Federation. The Memorandum of Understanding signed between both organizations includes the voluntary provision of physiotherapy and rehabilitation support to be given by the CIU Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation to the Vakıflar Wheelchair Basketball team affiliated with the Disabled Sports Federation.
Chairperson of the CIU Department of CIU Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hülya Özbeşer stated that performance evaluations of athletes have been carried out within the scope of this agreement and explained that performance evaluation is an important process to analyze the physical abilities, technical skills and general performance of athletes in sports such as wheelchair basketball.  
Özbeşer noted that this process was carried out to determine the strengths of the athletes, identify their areas of development and optimize their training programs, and expressed that within  this context, they first conducted a performance evaluation for all athletes before the season.
Özbeşer also stated that the athletes had strength tests, endurance tests, flexibility tests, sports performance, speed, agility, balance and coordination skills tests during the performance evaluation held at Atatürk Sports Hall, and pointed out that students as well as all department instructors participated in the said evaluation.
Özbeşer also noted that within the scope of the agreement, department lecturers Physical Therapist Dr. Mehmet Miçooğulları and Physical Therapist Dr Batuhan Dericioğlu will also be present as physiotherapists in all domestic and international competitions, and that in this way, they will be able to manage injury prevention strategies and manage the rehabilitation process of athletes in case of injury, thus ensuring an effective recovery.
Stating that the department instructors will implement rehabilitation programs for athletes who need rehabilitation due to sports injuries on a voluntary basis, she added that their aim is to accelerate the athletes' resume their sports activities. 
Özbeşer concluded that in addition to their professional contributions to the field, they will continue to support the Vakıflar Wheelchair Team as spectators with their students in order to increase the team’s motivation.
